Worldwide Engagement for Bridging Research, Excellence, and Wisdom Conference
(WE-BREW 2026)

Mountain Province State University (MPSU), located in the Cordillera Administrative Region, serves as a key academic institution situated in culturally diverse and geographically complex mountain communities. This unique context positions the University as a vital contributor to indigenous knowledge systems, sustainable mountain development, and community-centered innovation. It also situates MPSU as a bridge between local realities, national development priorities, and global academic and policy discourses.

MPSU has consistently strengthened its mandates in instruction, research, innovation, extension, and internationalization through sustained engagement in scholarly activities, collaborative research initiatives, community-based development programs, and strategic partnerships with local, national, and international institutions.  Guided by its Vision of becoming a unique highland coffee university, culturally and innovatively centric, globally recognized, that transforms quality of life, and its Mission of being a pioneering university embracing a leadership role in shaping human capital, culturally rooted, globally connected, and innovatively directed, the University advances its functions in instruction, research, innovation, extension, and internationalization through initiatives that are locally responsive, globally relevant, and culturally grounded. These institutional directions are aligned with global development frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in addressing climate action, quality education, good health and well-being, sustainable communities, reduced inequalities, and partnerships for development.

As part of these efforts, MPSU initially planned to host the World Research Conference on Indigenous Heritage, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (WRCIHIE) in April 2026. The conference was envisioned as a platform for researchers, educators, development practitioners, and professionals to engage in scholarly discourse on indigenous heritage, entrepreneurship, governance, sustainability, and technological innovation. The initiative generated considerable interest and attracted paper submissions from various institutions and researchers both within and outside the country.

However, the conference had to be postponed due to the national energy crisis arising from geopolitical tensions and conflicts in the Middle East, which significantly affected the implementation of planned activities and operations across multiple sectors. While the postponement was unforeseen, it provided an opportunity for reflection, reassessment, and strategic enhancement of the conference’s overall direction, scope, and inclusivity.

Subsequent consultations with prospective participants, partner institutions, researchers, and professional organizations revealed a growing demand for a more inclusive and interdisciplinary scholarly platform. Researchers from diverse disciplines, including education, agriculture, engineering and technology, health sciences, environmental studies, governance, business and management, information technology, social sciences, arts and humanities, and community development, expressed strong interest in participation. However, they also noted that the original conference framework was relatively limited in the breadth of emerging interdisciplinary and multi-sectoral research engagements.

These consultations further highlighted that contemporary societal challenges are increasingly complex, interconnected, and global in nature. Issues such as climate change, public health concerns, food security, educational transformation, technological advancement, governance reforms, economic development, and cultural preservation require integrated, evidence-based, and collaborative solutions that transcend disciplinary and institutional boundaries.

In response to these realities, MPSU recognized the need to transform and broaden the original conference into a more inclusive, multidisciplinary, and multi-sectoral academic platform while maintaining its commitment to indigenous knowledge systems, cultural heritage, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. This transformation reflects the University’s strategic direction of strengthening its role as a knowledge hub for sustainable mountain development and community-centered innovation.

WE-BREW 2026 is therefore conceptualized as MPSU’s flagship international, multidisciplinary research conference. It is designed as an inclusive global platform that brings together scholars, researchers, professionals, policymakers, industry leaders, development practitioners, and community stakeholders in a shared space for knowledge exchange, innovation, and collaboration. Reflecting the University’s unique identity as a highland coffee university, WE-BREW symbolizes the process of bringing together diverse ideas, disciplines, and experiences to generate knowledge, foster innovation, and cultivate wisdom for transformative development.

The conference is grounded on the principles of interdisciplinary engagement, where diverse fields of study intersect to generate innovative, evidence-based, and context-responsive solutions to complex societal challenges. It emphasizes the importance of bridging knowledge systems across disciplines, sectors, and communities to foster meaningful academic exchange and strengthen the utilization of research for policy and practice.

WE-BREW 2026 provides a dynamic venue for the dissemination of scholarly outputs through oral research presentations, poster sessions, policy briefs and pitch presentations, panel discussions, workshops, innovation showcases, and networking activities. These platforms are intentionally designed to enhance research visibility, promote evidence-based decision-making, and strengthen local, national, and international linkages among institutions and stakeholders.

In addition, the conference intends to pursue Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation to support lifelong learning, professional advancement, and broader multi-sectoral participation. This reinforces its role as a catalyst for capacity building, innovation, and research-driven transformation across disciplines and sectors.

As a flagship initiative of MPSU, WE-BREW 2026 envisions establishing a sustainable annual platform for research excellence, innovation, and global collaboration.
